Deafblind UK Talk

This afternoon at Cerebral Palsy Midlands we had a visit from a lovely lady called Anika she was from Deafblind UK an organisation that supports people with sight and hearing impairments. This is a great organisation that gives its members support advice and access to resources to help them to enjoy and live life as independently as they can. During the presentation, I learned that many members of Deafblind UK are also affected by a range of other disabilities, this is similar to many of the people here at Cerebral Palsy Midlands.
Anika talked about lots of the different things her organisation is doing, I was very interested in the digital inclusion projects she discussed that are taking place at Deafblind UK. Anika told us about some of apps and software that are helping Deafblind individuals access technology, such as 'text to speech'. I really think that software like this will be very helpful to many people here at Cerebral Palsy Midlands and will help them to use and access information much more easily. I’m really looking forward to our next visit from Deafblind UK and I’m very excited about the partnership that is developing between Deafblind and CPM, it’s going to be great and very beneficial everyone involved.
