Looking Forward group meet up
Posted on 26th January 2017 at 13:07
Today the new 'Looking Forward' support network group organised by Sociability Care and Cerebral Palsy Midlands met at the CPM centre in Harborne for an informal chat over tea and cake about how future meet ups and the group would be shaped moving forward. The group felt it was key to have a focus at the next meeting around self-care, health and well being for carers. We agreed that we need to be strong and health both physically and mentally to be caregivers and help others in our roles. The next meeting will take place on Thursday 9th February at 10.00am and we will look for someone to perhaps come in and show us a method we can use to look after ourselves, whether that is through meditation, breathing, tai-chi or exercise.
Future dates will include either training opportunities, opportunities to socialise and perhaps even some key speakers.
Thursday 9th February - Selfcare and Wellbeing
February Half Term - Date to be confirmed - Woodgate Valley Country Park walk to include adults or children being cared for.
Thurdsday 9th March - Safeguarding training
Thursday 23rd March - Internet safety - protecting vulnerable children and adults
'Looking Forward' would like to offer an outreach service into the community to help and reach out to other carers, agencies and parents. We can offer support, training, advice, experience and an opportunity to connect and network with others who are going through similar experiences and challenges in their daily lives. For more information about our future support groups please visit our webpage or connect with our Looking Forward Facebook Page.
If you can support our groups through talks or public speaking or could offer a well being activity for our group please get in touch with Sarah Lilly, call 0121 427 3182 or email sarah@cpmids.org.uk.
