Hello, I am Luke Brennan from Queen Alexandra College (a specialist college for disabled students). I came to Cerebral Palsy Midlands for work experience placement.

As I am a sports student and a fully qualified FA Level 1 coach, I was given the task to see what new sports clients wanted to do in the centre. I put together a questionnaire for clients to fill in and spoke to people about what activities they would like to see happening at the centre.

The questionnaire included sports such as boccia, skittles, an obstacle course, table cricket, kurling, target practice, table tennis and archery.
My results showed that the favourite sports were;
• Boccia (17 votes).
• Skittles (17 votes).
• Obstacle course (16 votes).
Perhaps with some fundraising, CPM can look to purchase a Boccia kit and ramp, along with some other equipment to be able to host activities and keep everyone active to support their health and well being.

The least favourites were;
• Table cricket (9 votes).
• Table tennis (9 votes).

I enjoyed my three weeks working with CP Midlands, and Sarah Lilly (Development Officer) kindly asked me and the college to extend my placement to six weeks. I am pleased to be working for the Cerebral Palsy Midlands centre. I also love the fact that this is a lively place to be and there is lots of activities though out each day.

I am really looking forward to coming back and improving my coaching skills as I will put on some activities for the clients.

A special thank you for having me and l welcomed again either if I'm working or just visiting the centre.
