Willmott Dixon have project managed the development of The Evelyn Hurd Suite at Cerebral Palsy Midlands (CPM). The development has seen them working with their suppliers and contractors to give the whole suite a new and modern structure and appearance. Our community day care centre has many people here with cerebral palsy and other significant needs and this new development will really enhance the daily lives of the people that come here. It will have a big impact and make such a valuable difference. 

 

The new suite has been has new energy efficient LED Lighting fitted, more sockets to give the room more purpose, new and modern radiator fittings, a complete repaint and feature wall design and new carpets. Included in the project Willmott Dixon have sourced new tables which will give the whole new suite an exciting and modern appearance that will encourage more use of the room. 

 

Willmott Dixon have been really valuable to our centre development, they have had new outdoor signage created to have us more visible in our local community. 

 

Cerebral Palsy Midlands would like to thank all of the suppliers, contractors and engineers that gave their energy and time to create a new identity and space to our Evelyn Hurd Suite which will hugely affect the community of people that use our services daily. Evelyn Hurd was an exceptional lady who devoted years to Cerebral Palsy Midlands from 1975 until she passed in 2010. Her work was indispensable to the charity, she was very much involved and was a part of everyone’s lives here and in her memory and to honour her dedication we have an annual Evelyn Hurd Communication Award. Still to this day this is awarded is granted an individual at CPM that had made great strides to improve, assist and promote good communication in the centre. 

 

The next phase of this development will see a collaboration and partnership project working with Deafblind UK to enable our users to work in the new suite and really develop and strengthen their IT skills. We will be looking to source funding to acquire new IT equipment that will enhance the lives of our people here, ensuring they have the basic IT skills to do simple things like have an email, search on Google and YouTube. To also access apps and to try a variety of switches, speakers, tablets and technology that they can use to gain their life, IT and independence skills.
